The Starskipper’s Handbook: Open Beta
If you've been following Starskipper Games for a long time, you may know that the Starskipper's Handbook was one of our earliest projects, originally imagined before we had much understanding of the scale of what we were creating. Over the years, we created many versions of the game, updating, pruning, and implementing game mechanics to better fit the unique sort of tabletop roleplaying game that we'd been imagining. After years of design and closed playtesting, we are very excited to finally release version 0.5.7, and with it, our Open Beta.
The Starskipper's Handbook is a tabletop roleplaying game of our own design, taking place in the Sci-Fantasy setting of the Starskipper Universe. The heart of the Starskipper story is set a long ways off, in a galaxy far far in the future: Selvat. Within an isolated arm of this galaxy, known as the Selvat Spur, numerous civilizations have risen and fallen, resting now in a timid peace. As a player, you will take the role of one of the people of the Selvat Spur, trained in a vast array of unique abilities to make your character uniquely your own. Together with a team of other players, you will embark on exciting adventures, guided by the Commander of Games.
Will you be a mighty warrior, guided by the wisdom of a Higher Power? Or perhaps a stealthy assassin, trained in poisons and powerful magics? Or even a persuasive mechanist, whose crafting skills are as unrivaled as their persuasiveness? Hundreds of potential character options await, letting you build exactly the character that you want!
And if you're aspiring to run a game of the Starskipper's Handbook as a Commander of Games (CoG), the Open Beta has plenty of tools and resources to help you get started! In addition to gameplay rules, you'll also have a number of generator tables to help you create content on the fly! All you need is a little time and a group of players, and you'll be running your own epic games of Starskipper!
